Our Sugar NLP approach has been inspired by many NLP developers and trainers, most notably Richard Bandler, John Grinder, John Overdurf*, Julie Silverthorn* and Wyatt Woodsmall. Our core philosophy is...
If you are not you, who will be? In any one moment all you can be, and all you are, is you. Your perfect and not so perfect curious, playful, learning, free spirited qualities are all part of you and are every bit as essential as the loving, compassionate, reliable, fun and the many, many other parts. Be yourself and be congruent in all you do.
In common with many western and eastern philosophies, we believe true self acceptance is an essential step in `any growth. By being who you are you have all the resources you need inside you to recognise your beautiful, wonderful unconditioned self.
How can we ever know what we are capable of? As life continues our memories grow, whether we plan on it or not. The unconscious mind is the storehouse of our memories and has an estimated processing capacity of upwards from 2.3 million bits of information per second. Our conscious mind can cope with about 5-9 chunks of information at any one time.
In any moment, our thoughts are only the tip of an iceberg of unconscious knowledge and wisdom and whatever we are thinking, there is usually more to it. Your unconscious mind is always up to something big, and who knows what it has in store for you? Quite literally, whatever you think, you are always (and in all ways) more than that.
At a micro-biological level the cells of the body regenerate and change on a constant basis. Scientists estimate that every 12 months we have a completely new cell structure to the one 12 months previously. All we are is change and one thing we can be sure of in the world is change.
Change is about us and within us and we are biologically caught up in it. You could consider time as just a measure of change; we cannot stop it but you can direct it. For us all, it is not a case of can I change, it is about “how can I make sure I’m changing in ways that are helpful to my life?”
From the moment we are born, and probably even earlier, our experience of the world is mapped out by what we see, hear, feel, touch, taste and smell. We begin to learn and how to walk by trial and error, and what we believe and value by the experiences we have. At a very early age we learn to filter our experiences so we get the feelings we desire. We especially like proving ourselves right.
The world therefore becomes a mirror for thoughts actions and deeds. It reflects back your expectations perfectly, whether you have the attitude of an optimist or a pessimist. You choose your life and the world will accommodate it, in all the rich detail you imagine. What you focus on you get more of and whatever you believe, you will prove yourself right.
